Long before petroleum-derived polymers choked our oceans and microplastics entered our bloodstream, French glassmakers mastered a form of material alchemy that relied on nothing more than raw earth, blazing fire, and a blast of cold air.

Born in the Era of Swing and Subversion

To understand the roots of Duralex, you have to rewind to the turbulent early 1940s. While WWII and the Vichy regime preached strict moral austerity and fabric rationing, Paris saw the rise of the Zazous—a subversive youth subculture of jazz-crazed, drape-jacketed teenagers.
